We stopped by this tiny café and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were friendly. We had a really nice meal—everything was fresh, tasty, and made with care. It’s a small place, but the food and experience were genuinely enjoyable. A great little spot if you’re looking for a relaxed and satisfying meal. Would definitely visit again!

Lovely small cafeteria run by an all-female staff where they serve great breakfasts. Had the full English with extra of beans and hash browns. Black pudding was tender and rich in flavour. Poached eggs and crispy sausages. Nicely buttered mushrooms. Highly recommended.

Amazing Service. Very welcoming and the standard of the food was fresh and tasty. My wife is pregnant and they re assured her of the menu and items she can and can’t have. My eggs Benedict was sublime with a tempura bacon which was so delicious.(need to know how this is done!) I will definitely be back and what a lovely little quaint street it is on in the heart of the city. It’s a must go for breakfast/brunch.

Quay Ingredient is a pretty great place to go for breakfast or brunch in Newcastle but it has lost a little bit of it's charm for me when I compare it with the experience I had there a few years ago. First of all, expect to wait unless you're there early. Especially on the weekend. This place is popular for good reason. The wait staff will take your order while you wait outside to expedite the ordering process but during busy periods still expects to wait between 10-15 minutes after being seated for your food to arrive. Once inside we were asked if we would share a table for 4 with another couple which we agreed to do... The table was really small for four people though, so if you're not wanting to chat to folk you don't know because you're mega hungover then it's best to decline and wait for another table. Our breakfasts arrived missing some items and these were brought later on one plate to share...We weren't quite sure which bits belonged to each dish though and we were trying to split them between 2 parties. The staff could've been a bit clearer about what items belonged to whom or they could split the missing items between two side plates so we know what belonged where. The food on the whole is fresh and good quality and it's a very tasty breakfast. When I compare the portion sizes to what they were a few years ago there are some big differences. For example, the portion of baked beans I had recently was barely a tablespoon full. So small that they went cold really quickly and might as well not have been on the plate. This didn't used to be the case...The sausages are super good quality and very meaty but this time they were also really salty. Not to be too negative, the eggs were perfectly poached and the bread, black pudding, bacon and has browns were all good. No shade to Quay Ingredient...still a very good brekkie but not quite as good as it used to be.
